My name is UV (Udayveer Singh Miglani) and I am studying RHOT (Resort and Hotel Management) in semester-1. I wish to get nominated for the position of an executive member of Selkirk College’s Student Union.
My focus would be, to bridge the gap, if any; between the students and our college and to get rid-off the problems faced by the students due to lack of housing and transportation. The aim would be, to bring light on the neglected issues which are immense part of every student’s life. I ensure, that with help of the board members and my co-leaders, the problems can be figured out and I will make every possible effort to bring the solutions into action.
My name is Payton Maffioli and I am a second year Recreation Fish and Wildlife student. I chose to come to Selkirk College because I admire the positivity around diversity and how close the College and the community work together. During my free time I love to hike and practice wildlife photography, but my absolute favourite hobby is fossil hunting! I have always been passionate about the environment and sustainability, so I am working towards a career in environmental law.
I have a special skill set of being able to reconcile the communications between you and the College Administration. If elected, I plan on dedicating my full efforts by lobbying for changes and bettering the experiences of you, by having your voices heard to the SCSU.
My main goals are to have the professional concerns of you at Town Halls and to resolve them in a way such that you can collaborate and agree upon.
I will spread awareness for Mental Health and academic success. I am ready to INSPIRE you on campus to get involved in clubs and societies, and more information for career opportunities for all.
Students need their own voice so make the right choice
I'm very excited to participate in this year's student union election. I'm looking forward to helping build a strong and resilient student movement on our campuses with your help. Students are at capacity trying to survive juggling studies, exams, and readings as well as high rents, low wages, high tuition costs and unprecedented crises being built onto more crises. It is our responsibility to take action to create a better world, not only for ourselves but also for future students. I intend to help students make their voices heard by those decision-makers who've forgotten the sound of their voices. I am a lead organizer of the Nelson Tenants Union, a member of the BCGEU and a student of the social service worker program. I'd be proud to help represent your needs through the Selkirk College Student Union.
My name is Chidiogo Ezebube and I am contesting for Student Union Executives Committee. I am here to serve you if you give me the opportunity, I am here to speak for those who don't know who will listen on the recent house crisis students are facing, the high cost of living and tuition fee for international students and the bus timing that will work for all. I believe in change and if we can work together our voices must be heard because we are the future.
I am a student at Selkirk College, pursuing a Post-Graduate Diploma in Accounting. I have been actively involved in various student events, such as Clothing Drive, Game Nights, Trail Walking and the Career Fair. I am passionate about enhancing the student experience and fostering a sense of community at Selkirk. As a student executive, I would strive to represent the diverse voices and interests of the student body, advocate for their needs and rights, and collaborate with the college administration and external stakeholders. I believe that I have the leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to be an effective and accountable student executive. I would appreciate your support and vote in the upcoming election.
Myself Kamalpreet Singh (2nd year student) aims to exemplify the progressive and empowering attitude in this Selkirk College Students’ Union 2023-24 Executive Committee Election. Our college's governance and educational practices should be guided by the views and aspirations of its students, who, in my opinion, are the centre of all educational institutions.
In our college community, we want to be the change agents. My vision goes beyond the here and now and continues into the future, where better education should be provided that will enable them to succeed in this competitive world. My goal is to provide a setting that values creativity, diversity, and individual development. Your opinion counts, and I am committed to making sure that it is taken into consideration. I am committed to making sure that your voice is heard and appreciated because it matters.I will try to create a college that truly matches your needs and objectives if we work together.
Join me in igniting change and empowering tomorrow because this is about you, your education, and your future, not just about me. Together, we can bring your voice and vision to life.
